EACH: Sensory Garden - Cambridge

      Return to map

The hospice at Milton in Cambridgeshire is part of the East Anglia group of children's hospices, and was in dire need of a sensory garden to enhance the lives of the children they served

The original woodland area and overgrown pond needed a large dose of 'tlc' and with help from the Army, RAF and a local tree surgeon an area of sufficient size was cleared.

Designer Anna McArthur and contractors, Ken Alger Ltd, were then able to use the natural attributes to create a wonderful sensory garden, including wide paths, raised beds and bird tables and feeders. By working together with local volunteers, around 2000 bulbs were also planted to create an special garden area.

A member of staff commented at the opening: "What can we say? The children love it!"

The garden was declared open by Peter Seabrook.
